Passports and Consular Services

An appointment is required prior to visiting the Australian High Commission (Wellington) or Consulate-General (Auckland).

Australian High Commission (Wellington)

The High Commission in Wellington provides passport services to Australian citizens in New Zealand (south of Lake Taupo), Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau.

Please note: from 1 February 2016, passport and consular opening hours will be as follows.

Passport counter opening hours:   Monday to Friday  9:00am to 12:30pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Physical address:  72-76 Hobson Street, Thorndon, Wellington 6011.

We do not have onsite parking so please allow extra time. ALL visitors to our offices are subject to security measures. If you are asked to put items in storage, please take your paperwork and payment with you.

Australian Consulate-General (Auckland)

The Australian Consulate-General in Auckland provides passport services to Australian citizens in New Zealand north of Lake Taupo.

All visa enquires should be directed to the Australian Visa Application Centre in Auckland and all paper based lodgements must be submitted at one of the AVAC centres.
